Healthy Class Party and Birthday Celebration Ideas

Let’s face it kids like parties (parents too!)  There are numerous benefits to having healthy school celebrations.  Research clearly demonstrates that good nutrition is linked to positive behavior and higher academic performance.  Healthy parties at school provide consistent messages about Vine Hill’s commitment to promoting healthy behaviors.  They also promote a healthy school environment in which students receive consistent, reliable health information and ample opportunity to use it.  Finally, healthy class parties can create excitement about nutrition by helping children to try new and healthy snacks.  Here are some suggestions.

THANK YOU TROOP 10208

Girl Scouts of Troop 10208, a local Scotts Valley Girl Scout Troop made up of 5th grade girls from Vine Hill Elementary School, were ready to embark upon this journey to earn their Bronze Award when they noticed the wall-ball walls at Vine Hill Elementary School were in desperate need of repair.  One side of the wall was completely unusable with paint peeling off exposing the rotten board below and a huge hole with sharp edges. Not only was the wall unsightly, but it was unsafe! The other walls were improperly sealed which if left as is, would eventually rot like the other wall. Additionally, the walls were not all standard as they all had different colors and textures and were not the school colors.  The Girl Scouts noticed this and wanted to take action and fix it!

THANK YOU GIRL SCOUT TROOP 10208!  Because of your dedication, determination and desire ALL of us are able to safely enjoy our wall ball!
