Scotts Valley Unified has received the NAMM Foundation 2016 "Best Communities for Music Education" Award.

The Best Communities for Music Education

Scotts Valley Unified, along with 476 other school districts across the United States, is being recognized by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation as among the Best Communities for Music Education (BCME), out of the nation’s 13,515 school districts. Now in its 17th year, BCME recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who work together to ensure access to music learning for all students as part of the school curriculum.

Districts that have been recognized by the NAMM Foundation are often held up as models for other educators looking to boost their own music education programs.

We would like to thank all the community organization, parent clubs, parents and businesses that have supported music education in our schools through your generous donations.  A special thank you to Kiwanis Club of the Valleys and all their sponsors and bands for Music at SkyPark, which raises thousands of dollars a year and has helped purchase new instruments, choral risers, musician chairs, instrument storage cabinets, concert attire, pianos, new music, helped students to attend festival adjudications throughout the year and overall funding to run a music program.

Congratulations Scotts Valley Community!
